TGIF! Coffee Time and a Freebie!

Misty weather and no school, makes coffee time very quiet today

No one is moving around my house yet, which means I have that

peaceful solitude that lends comfort knowing every one is

safe and sound in their beds.

No worries about your babies when they are

all tucked in and the house has that silent movement of being filled

knowing that at at any moment...they wake and my day is overtaken

with the series of "Mom". I start lists, mark off old ones, and

sometimes do nothing but grab a book and sip until the silence is

broken. It varies from day to day, but always begins with a mug

of coffee and lots of staring off into space to ...think, yeah...think

We play a lot of games in our house, and have many times brought

Pictionary to a whole new level with a big group of friends!

Last year I worked on a fun collab with a FAB designer, perfect for all

your family Game Nights. I took those few pieces and decided to build a

full kit with my own Etc vibe spin on it!

It turned out to be my largest kit I have created, and I could have kept

right on going with my Etc friends making suggestions right up until

I zipped it up for the store, hahahahahahahaha!

This kit includes 20 papers, 50 game goodies and elements,

A custom wood tile alpha and separate game tile style number set

Day by Day Scrapbooking with Military

My new release was a kit 100% inspired by one of our many

Creative Artists at The Digichick I am fortunate to create with.

It started as a simple, "Anyone want to make a military kit?"

There was a need for one that was manly, focusing on the colors of

those sandy places that so many of our service members have been living

these past many years. A day by day PL journal type of pieces since these

photos rarely get placed in our book until they come home.

We often forget to keep track of our loved ones in our daily scrapping

and I think "Telling Your Story" will help all of us document more.

Anniversary Kit and a Gift!

January, the time for new beginnings and celebrating an old one!

This is my wedding anniversary month, 16 yrs to be precise

I often get my inspiration from my every day life, and

this weeks new release is a perfect example of how that happens.

I have started working on a little something called "Tell Your Story"

with some more scrappers in the community. A way to document without

guilt and feeling like I had something to do each day. It is AWESOME!

You just keep in mind that every layout has a story, so please tell it.

One day, even though we know the story in our own mind, there

will be someone looking at that layout going "What happened"?

It goes along with the amazing ideas of Project Life and One Little Word,

so if you are doing those, then these creations should work perfectly.

This kit is the first I created to tell my own story, but I hope it helps

you make a little bit of magic with yours

Where have I been?!?!

I am sorry for not touching base with all of you for awhile

Some of you know that my Mother was fighting a battle with cancer

for the past few years. We were able to enjoy our final month with her

before she was finally blessed with relief from her fight Dec 19th.

It was a long month, quite frankly a horrible Christmas for us, but

we were comforted by the fact that she is now looking down at us with

her painted toenails and a finger wags at all the Mimosas I sucked down

for New Years...shameful daughter that I am.

Thank you all for the sweet e-mails and payers, they went a long way

I am bringing news to you today about one the best "Memory Keeping"

projects I have seen for quite some time. I always felt pressure when I

would see Project 365/52, and knew it would never fit me or my life

This will change forever how I do my own scrapbooking.

I have wanted a way to add together my digi/paper/hybrid love, and now I can

I will let you read and know that you will find this as inspiring as I have.

There will many ideas shared to help us along the way

Dreaming of Snow

Here along the coast, we may get a few COLD days, and a couple

of times a year it brings a little...dare I say it?...Ice! WUT?!?!?

Mostly we have various conditions of warm.....with a side of humid

Not a rough life, but I do often dream of a little bit of something that

we can all an actual Winter. If the lottery comes my way, the first purchase

will be a second home near snow...and mountains...and snow

I have always thought those postcards with sleighing and snowmen are

just so pretty, and I want to join in all the reindeer games too

Pfffft....not going to happen

Maybe at least put "wear a really adorable ski outfit so I look cool"

on my bucket list. I may have to wear it at the beach, but add in a flamingo

and we could have next years Christmas card...hahahahahahaha!

Time to get those Letters to Santa Started!

I have many fond memories of those sweet letters that my kids wrote to Santa

each year. They always started with at least one gratuitous "I was really good"

then turned into a long list of "and I want ALL OF THIS"!

They always spent so much time to make them just perfect with instructions

on how to get to our house. That middle genius of ours once told Santa

"if you need directions, we live in the neighborhood behind the animal vets"

Bwhahahahahahaha!!!

I guess he heard us tell anyone that "location finder" when we gave directions

so he was like, hey...I got this one. *snort*

I paper scrapped most of ours, including the many "From Santa" replies they

received in the mail. One time Emi started crying being absolutely amazed

that Santa WROTE to HER! She slept with that letter for a couple of nights

until we lovingly magnet-ed it to the refrigerator so everyone could see

we had a celebrity in the house. She pointed out until about March when

she made straight A's on a report card and it was put away for "safe keeping"

Sunday Morning Coffee..Fog and Blog

That pretty much sums up my entire morning

I can tell Winter is trying to reach us here along the coast, and bringing

with it it our seasonal fog. Waking up to see that blanket immediately lets me

know that it is both chilly and damp...no need to leave the comfort

of my home. Just make coffee, curl up to the computer and watch how

long it takes for the sun to burn it off. For me, about two cups

It rolls in off the water and creeps along into our historic little town

I have delusions of wood ships off in the distance with their fabric sails

creating a troubling but yet romantic profile against the hazy background

Men, strong and bold, smelling of clean leather and all having that errant lock

of hair that refuses to stay in place by falling easily across their forehead

Dark...tall...handsome men that make your heart pitter-patter by their direct

and deliberate focus on you leaving no doubt what their intentions are

None of them innocent nor would you want them to be

Wait...that could be the romance novel I read this week?

Either way..real or not, that is what is happening in my head this morning

We have had a houseful of kids, specifically...girls

I can sum it up in one example of what has been happening

I noticed late...very late last night almost this morning that there

was one single brownie in a ziploc with writing on it. I almost did not read

because like you I assumed it was "someone's" bownie

Well, it was but there were more words than that, and even in my exhausted

state of mind it clicked...wait, that has a lot of letters formed into words

and says a lot more than just a name

It simply stated

"Emilee licked it..:/"

Yes, that is our little princess and pride. She has learned in this house

lick it and it is yours. There is a WHOLE doughnut story I will have to share

sometime...when I find my strength from my affair with

"Mr long tall drink of water" ship captain. He is currently waiting for me on deck

to finish this missive so that we may take a respite on the shore together

sigh....double sigh with a swoon

New Release and a FWP...& Freebie!

Take a trip with me to time when Avocado green, shag carpet, bold wallpapers

were in most homes and a van in most driveways

A time when, looking back now makes me smile with its simplicity

No computers, but we did have Atari...Pong was cool, man

I think we were the first to have a VCR. The kind where the slot

popped up on top and it messed up you drew straws who was going to

stand with their hand on it to hold it in place until it "caught"

I remember our kitchen most it being the central location in family settings

Ours had HUGE orange & yellow flowered wallpaper

Avocado green appliances, and this complex plastic grate over fluorescent

6 ft long lights. I am pretty sure you could land a plane if ever needed.

We had a pantry with those slotted doors, and I would frequently crawl

in with the 50 ft of curly phone cord to get a little privacy.

I remember that I could walk around the den/dining room and back into the

kitchen before the curls looked straight. Oh, and it wrapped around my

finger about 8x or so. "Re-curling" the cord was actually on my

Saturday list of chores......pinky swear

My newest kit requested by my Etc friends, was created for them

but with an "Ode to the 70's color vibe" I could not resist!

Did you have a hope chest? My sister being older received our family

cedar lined hope chest long before I even knew what one was.

I remember seeing lacy doily things. Silver and crochet pieces. Old papers

and envelopes that had photos stuffed in them with receipts or such.

It could be that our family was different than yours, but I do have a sense it

was saved for memories more than actual items.

I just remember it sitting there in my grandmothers house and I

longed to open it so many times.

Lazy Sunday Coffee Time

The smell of coffee lingers through the house this morning as I

get my "To Do" list checked and re-checked for the upcoming DSD

weekend of gifts, fun, and major sales...OH MY!!

I have wish list going at 11 stores...serysly? Just how many goodies

can one person own before it is called an obsession?

Sigh, I do love me some scrapbooking

The heater clicked on as I was typing, so my cold feet

are now feeling some love and we may be able to have a bonfire tonight

just because we can...thank you honey for making me a fire pit last year.

It only took him 3 yrs to get it created for me, almost a record.

My poor porch pergola was a 4 yr process, 3 of which was planning

it in his head...hahahahahahahahaha!

I am reminded of all the times I sat in front of a bonfire on the beach

growing up. We can no longer build fires due to hurricane damage, but my

at the memories. We often would boil up our crab right there in a pot

with whatever else we had fished or netted out of the water

My kids were fascinated how I could devour a crab leg with just my hands

I taught them how, and now they understand that utensils just slow you

down. You better move out of the way when we have crab night here

A little garlic butter and our crab spread right on the kitchen island

No chairs, no forks, no manners....but a lot of yum and laughter

The fall cool weather also means that a couple of things are going on

Halloween and our local annual Fair has started. I always know it is time

to pull out the jackets when the fair gets here. Like our "un-official"

"It is fixin' to be getting cold up in here, chicks"

I have no candy in the house, so I have to break away today to get

that accomplished. The people in this house have put in their request, and

it mostly consist of chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate, LOL!

You all know how I feel about that, so I am guessing since it never

occurs to me to buy anything with that flavor, they are going through

some sort of withdrawals that only chocolate lovers can understand.

In the design/scrapbook world, this is the last 24 hrs or so of our HUGE

Busy Halloween Weekend & Special SALE!

It is here...that time when I open the door for all the little neighborhood kids

and pass along a treat or two. There is always those particular kids

that will tell you they don't like the candy you have chosen.

I have found a way to not let this hurt me anymore. I give them a

pencil...or a toothbrush...with a smile.

I am almost certain I do not have to tell you what I mean by them. :)

It's a Mickey Spoon Kinda Day

Yes, for you faithful followers, you know exactly what this means.

Every so often in life, a few days run together with work..kids...whatever

I wake up before the sun, lovingly hang out by the coffee maker until

that final gurgle provides me with instant satisfaction of good things to come

I reach in the drawer and find myself staring at the only clean spoon in the house.

How does this happen with almost clockwork precision at least once monthly

Why do I have no spoons? The dishwasher is full of them and I have some

mental block to remember to turn the darn thing on

How much simpler can washing be? and have I told you that I LOATHE

unloading that stupid thing. Please tell me I am not alone

I would say I am saddened by my spoon predicament, but in reality

it gives me a moment of quiet time to think about that sweet baby girl.

She is five now, in school and not missing a thing here at Dodo's house.

Coffee in hand now, PSE opening its wings for the day..Pandora

trying desperately to have me accept a country song on my

"Lady Gaga" list....serysly? Another moment in life where I have to

outwardly click on a thumbs down emblem. So many negatives hidden

amongst our day, no wonder we feel we have an option to choose.

I am not saying I am Miss Sunshine, but I do make an effort to push

negative away...opening myself for all things positive to come in.

So, over your coffee, tea, whatever this fine am.....open yourself

to the positives of your day. I am sending you some..hope you get them

A Controversial Kit?..and a Freebie

Even as I type this, I wonder how this kit will be received

When I opened this discussion on my private forum, I had not one

single dissension. They were, as always, right beside me cheering me on!

I grew up spending weekends on my Grandmother's "farm"

and sitting on my Grandfather's porch learning to spit and shoot birds with

many a homemade slingshot that he had carved.

Those homes were separate, but they were still very much different than

the "city" life I lead sitting on the beach most days of the year.

They both filled freezers full of garden and wild stock. This meant that

not only could I expect a chicken that ran around the yard in the am to

appear on my plate that evening, but often there would be a deer stew

that may make an appearance. I never knew the "difference" in that meat and

those packages in our freezer until I was well into high school and mentioned

some deer jerky I had been munching and was met with my first taste of

"meat prejudice"...hahahahahahaha!

I hope this kit is received with the taste that I tried to create.

It may not be for you, but if it is...I hope you are able to scrap some of your

own camping and hunting stories. They are very much a tradition that

I believe can be scrapped in style and taste.

NEW Glam or Quirky...Halloween TWO Ways!

Two new releases this week, let you choose how you scrap Halloween!

As I started working on Halloween projects, one thing was clear

I was definitely all over the board with how I wanted to represent!

My kids have had to endure me dressing them up like dice, M&M's, and

once even a "Bunch of Grapes". They had plenty of the normal kid

adventures with each boy being a ninja, firefighter or "ghoulish creature"

The girl tested her tiara as a precious princess, Pocahontas

and the usual pre-teen made up "Rock Star"

My house has gone full out and once even "lights out" when we dared

to not be home for Halloween as we vacationed in Disney instead

Those memories, and now knowing I get to share some more with

the grand-baby, sparked my love for most things glitzy quirky scary.

I am a huge fan of dark kid movies and of course anything

stamped with a Pixar or Disney seal. I could not decide if I was going

"Corpse Bride" or adult party fun when I opened PSE. Luckily,

once I got started, the decision came easily....I created TWO kits

Autumn Walk and Gift #2!

We have been getting the camping gear up and ready for

some action this past week. Airing out the tent, making lists

and finding all sorts of reasons for a little hammock time.

You know....to contemplate what we need to do to be ready

Yesterday proved me wrong, and despite the rainy weather the

day was rather warm and I didn't like it. In my mind I am ready for the

cool nights to continue, but remind myself that this is Florida.

It will come more consistently as we ease into October

Our local fair is when I remember I always wore a jacket for the

first time of the year. How is it that those fair people know just

when to bring their cotton candy and elephant ears to town?

Some of my friends are well into the cold weather already, so

I will warn you that many "jealousy" posts will be coming your

way as they start to have silly things such as SNOW!

I always sigh a little too much when my friends post their snow photos

and mention their fires crackling months before me. Not that I see

snow, like almost never in the 44 yrs I have lived here on the coast,

but I do keep the fire burning almost every day in the winter.

It is my way of convincing myself that winter does actually occur here.

I will have to settle for the white sands and a little pretense6

I settle for a lot of Fall here, so my new kit is perfect for me and my

landscape. It is all about relativity, right?

Autumn Walk and a Sweet Gift

I feel it coming every so slightly more and more each day

The hammock is getting a work out again, and I can say

with some certainty I may be covered in leaves pretty soon

I love the transition of the seasons when you can do a little

bit of both weather favorites. Summer is still here some days, but

it brings with it cool nights and Southern Dusting

For those that do not know what that is?

We open up our homes and let the breezes take care of any

pesty ol' dust bunnies. If they are in a corner under a chair, what

we see can't hurt us right? Gotta love those Gulf breezes

My son said recently "It is soon going to be time to rake leaves"

He was not the least bit sarcastic

I love how they crunch under your feet while you are walking

Brings back one of my memories as a child, with my Dad raking

while I was being chased into a tree by our bull terrier

New Autumn Nights and a Blog Gift!

I love when the first signs of Autumn rolls in after the hot summer

We enjoy eating dinner outside at night and of course there is

school and football, hahahahahahahahaha!

There is just something so relaxing when the sun starts to set

and the evening breeze rolls in. Our son has a new found love

of grilling out, so no more hot kitchen to clean....GO ME!

It brings with it time for camping, bonfires, and walks in the

woods for no reason other than you can to enjoy that
time just before dusk when all creatures are settling in for the night.

Taking a Day

This weekend marks a poignant place in the heart of most

Our home is no exception as I live with my own hero

I won't wax anything poetic but know our hearts are with all those that

suffered a loss on this day 10 yrs ago. Thank you for everyone that

continues to protect and serve in the only way a true hero knows how

We are spending time with our fire family and watching some football

GO BAMA....ROLL TIDE!!!!!

I have this set up to post late Sunday afternoon. I am going to

assume like the true Bama fan that I am, WE WON!

My two new school kits have been moved to my Digichick store

I have a high school-er, in fact I had two previous, but this is

our last one to go so it is a bittersweet time for me.

I wanted to create a kit specifically for those older kids we have

and all the growing up things they participate in

I have been most fortunate since I became a part of the Digichick team

$1 Chick Fix SALE Last Day!

Ah, the joys of a 3 day weekend for most of my US friends

We have been having storms along the coast, so no beach cookouts

for us....just movie days and card games!

We survived the bands that came through all day and night with only

one real tornado scare for our area and lots of rain.

Emi and her friend crawled into the large garden tub. Grabbing

her sweet bears (made from her baby blankets) and a bag of skittles

shoved down into her favorite sweatshirt, they were giggling

away the 30 minutes in true teenager style

When the all clear was given, I immediately asked her

"Where are my scrapbooks?"

The look on her face...shock, then worry, then

"Oh my gosh I can't believe I didn't grab those" sadness

::snort::.....srysly, did she actually think I meant that?

Being my kid is not for the weak at heart

A hug and the straight talk "They are not important to me"

and she was instantly smiling again and joking back

"Maybe we lost that photo of me licking the back door glass?"

No, baby girl, that one would be the first I would re-scrap

my sweet, funny little window licker....:O

As a paper scrapper I created over 30 scrapbooks. Many, unable to count

mini scrapbooks and hybrid projects, all very precious.

Those heavy books and minis are filled with

so many memories, but the only real loss would be those precious

tangible items I stupidly glued onto a page thinking how

clever I was. The photos are all backed-up safely and in truth, the

destruction of the albums would only serve to feed my scrap habit

by making me feel I MUST re-scrap them all.

I really must find a way to scan those certificates, artwork

and multiple items of 1st's I shared with them and my husband.

Here in lies yet still another excellent reason to digi scrap

It is more than a hobby, but for me.... but a way of life

It is an undertaking to be the memory keeper in your family

but one you should embrace with more than just love

Think of how your pages, created to mark your life, will also

serve as time markers for an entire generation

My photos of vacations at Disney, will forever mark how that

"Magical Place" has changed over the years of my life.

Hurricanes we have experienced were shared with thousands,

and one day my albums may find themselves in the hand of a

stranger that will look upon them with reverence of a time lost.

Doesn't that make you think?

Lazy Sunday Coffee Time

Yes, I sit here with coffee in hand that my sweet hubby

woke me up with after my lazy sleep in

I forget how nice it is to sometimes just lay there, not jump

up and get a start on the day for any other reason than you

want to read the paper, sip coffee and catch up on our week

We have survived the first outer bands of the storm, no damage

just lots of water we are hoping will go down some before the next

bands get here. I need to go take down my poor hammock

I woke to some unusually loud thunder at one point, only to see

my sweet friend was swaying quite a bit during some of the winds

It did crazy things to my mind, with the sky lighting up and the motion

rocking like there was an anonymous someone furiously swinging

in my spot....it was not pretty, and the sight still lingers in my mind

this morning like one of the suspense novels you can't get out of your

head even after you have long put it down.

It felt so dramatic at the time, I truly could not move my eyes to take

in any thing else that was happening, and there was lots happening

Some things are feeling more settled as I think of my week ahead.

My creative life has been up and down. I have finally

gotten to the point in my scrap life that I am never "working" on

a kit or alpha. It hit me rather suddenly recently when I felt

I had to finish a product I was working on. I hated everything I

was looking at on my 22" screen....simply everything

How did that happen?

I am sure there are many of you out there that have done this

It has happened on a layout, so why did I think that creation in

any other form would be excluded. I was stunned into a moment

of silence and had to walk away from my computer

I would often look over the rest of that day at my creative corner

and feel disgust that I had given into the demands of work process

I had somehow given a piece of myself that I did not want back

Later that evening, as I found the courage to do what I knew I must

I walked over to screen...look again at the sadness, said a couple of not

so nice words in at least two languages and deleted the entire thing.

Delete, delete, delete......

It felt empowering....I felt AMAZING and sad all at the same time!

That poor kit will never see the light of day, but it gave me a lot

of insight. I am very new to this side of scrap booking, and I am

full aware of all the things I have yet to learn

My mistakes are many and they will still happen. I am peace with

the thought I will learn and not become a cookie cutter creator

Things I have noticed in others before, but they continue to fail.

I will not. I am love with scrap booking and will only be

focusing on those things that make me feel like I am truly

contributing to my own memory keeping or yours.

We are in this thing together..we document-ors of our generation

I hope you fill your life with good things as we start the week

Take some photos of random moments, never forget they tell

our true story. Keep them safe and journal how they happened

I will be here to share mine and hope you share a little of yours
